To honour the first of these pledges the government won't need to change the Admissions Code. That's what it does - ensure all schools have inclusive admissions policies. But to honour the second it may need to change the Code, giving the powers to force faith schools to admit children of all faiths and none. What's ambiguous is what "these" refers to in the second sentence. Does it mean just those faith schools that are set up from now on, or will any changes to the Code be retroactive? I suspect it's the former, particularly as both David Cameron and Nick Clegg's children are at faith schools and they won't want to upset the heads and governors of those schools by forcing them to change their admissions policies.
