But before Christmas, it became clear that Lib Dem peers - with Mr Clegg's support - were planning to torpedo the boundary review, too: the prospect of months or years of such infighting must have made the idea of a discreet exit all the more appealing.

At its height in the late Sixties to mid-Eighties, the studio was producing around 40 films a year. But its still in operation today. When I visited, the film in production was Pueblo, about the US Navy spy ship boarded and captured by North Korea in 1968.
